Is the age of minimalistic style over?

2024 is set to bring a whole new wave of logo trends, building upon the exciting developments of the previous year. Wix, the web design brand, has already predicted nine logo trends that are worth keeping an eye on. While some trends, like minimalism, have been popular in recent years, there are others that may surprise you. (If you're looking for design inspiration, check out the best logos of all time!)
In this age of social media dominance, many brands are embracing the concept of "less is more" when it comes to their logos. Clean and simple designs are expected to continue to reign supreme. Wix also anticipates that typographic logos will remain popular, but with a twist - lowercase lettering will take center stage. Regardless of the fonts and typefaces used, lowercase letters have a greater impact on our memory, allowing us to remember the entire word rather than just the initial letter.

Bright and bold logos are also expected to make a lasting impression in 2024. These logos exude modernity, excitement, and energy, and they look fantastic against both light and dark backgrounds.
Another intriguing trend mentioned by Wix is illustrative typography, which is essentially an art form in itself. This involves using letters to create intricate shapes or even crafting monograms. For example, companies may transform the letter "o" in their names to resemble tires, while craft businesses may incorporate craft equipment into the letters of their names.
Hybrid logos are also set to make waves in 2024. Brands will combine bold colours, diverse fonts, and intricate designs to create logos that are visually striking both in physical and digital form.
The goal is to craft logos that leave a lasting impression and possess depth. With these exciting logo trends on the horizon, 2024 promises to be a year of innovation and creativity in the world of branding.
Looking back to the past is not a new concept. We've seen Nickelodeon and Burberry embrace nostalgia by revamping their logos, and this trend is here to stay. Brands are now combining old and new elements to create impactful designs. Take vintage-style logos with vibrant, modern colours as an example.
One era that might take center stage is the Art Deco era. Although it had its heyday in the 1920s, it could make a comeback a century later. Its bold geometric and symmetrical designs lend themselves well to contemporary logos. This might even prompt a slight shift away from minimalism, although minimalism is still expected to be popular for some time.
Recently, there has been a strong focus on the environment. Wix predicts that brands will incorporate nature into their logos next year. With more consumers becoming eco-conscious, expect to see earthy tones and natural elements like swaying leaves and flowing water in logo designs.
Wix's final prediction for 2024 is that logos will intentionally embrace flaws. Hand-drawn logos and designs that clearly show human touch might become more popular, perhaps as a response to the rise of AI. Broken and distorted fonts are also on the rise, along with DIY punk aesthetics. This signifies a growing emphasis on individuality in the face of big tech and large corporations.
